Iron Age Shield-edging - Paul Elliott - 09-30-2012 How accurate is bronze edging for Iron Age shields? I had thought this was a Roman only invention, but recently found out that edging has turned up over a long period of Celtic history. I would like to strip of the rawhide edging from my British Invasion period shield and instead apply bronze edging, but I' m still a bit unsure.
