Thracian sica - Quintus Aurelius Lepidus - 05-11-2013

hi

i would like to let you see a picture of a sica which i've ordered.

the weapons smith which is making this for me has sent me a 'work in progress' picture.

unfortunately, i don't know much about this kind of weapon (yet) and ii'm unfamiliar with many english language sources on this kind of weapon. For the blacksmith, this also is the first time that he is making this kind of weapon.

final version will have a taxus wooden handle. he thinks he got the curve of the blade ok but he still needs to work a little bit on the fullers.

since I'm pretty much walking in the dark on this type of weapon, i would like to have your opinion on this. Big Grin

ps: the blacksmith which is making the weapon also is a member of the RAT-community. however, I'll let him decide for himself whether he reveals himself or not.

can you give us a little more detail about the measurements of the weapon?

curvature loks Ok to me and all in all looks very nice
the handle is something different as no such handles are preserved to us, at least not in my knowledge

congrats and don't forget to post pics with the final version
