Catalogue of Military Equipment from Pompeji - jho - 07-14-2015

Salvete!

I have received my copy of Salvatore Ortisi, Militärische Ausrüstung und Pferdegeschirr aus den Vesuvstädten (link) today.

The book contains a full catalogue of military equipment from Pompeji and Herculaneum with lots of equipment I have never before seen, including helmets re-used as water scoops in latrines and "parade swords" with all kinds of fantastic zooomorphic handles. It is a real treasure trove.

The book is in German with an Italian summary but a non-German reader may still benefit from the photos and drawings of the artifacts.

I have purchased this through my favorite supplier, www.antikmakler.de and received it within a day.
