Early Roman horse tack: Met in New York - richsc - 12-15-2015

Saw this in a Spanish thread on FB. Didn't know it was in the Metropolitan Museum in New York, which I still have not visited. Seems to date from second C BC. The one horse has a saddle with no pommels, and I was wondering what is known about this little statue.

It's really interesting. I am surprised such an interesting piece is so little known (at least for me!). The user on FB who posted this has posted some details of the lorica of one of the equites. Cool.
