Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Marcus Mummius - 08-13-2008 My brother and me were advertising one of our events this monday: Detail of the gladius Tony Drake made for me: Vale, Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Octavianvs - 08-13-2008 Jef - Very well done! D You and your Brother have done a fine impression! Nice Gladius and Where did you get that from? Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - M. Demetrius - 08-13-2008 The braces on the back of the parma...do they overlap each other (half-lap joint) or just meet where they cross? Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Marcus Mummius - 08-13-2008 Quote:Jef - Very well done! D You and your Brother have done a fine impression! Thanks! The gladius (both scabbard and sword) was made by RAT member Tony Drake a.k.a. BRENNIVS Vale, Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Marcus Mummius - 08-13-2008 Quote:The braces on the back of the parma...do they overlap each other (half-lap joint) or just meet where they cross? Hi David. Well they just meet were they cross. A half lap joint would be stronger but I don't really use this parma for combat... The backbracing on the parma isn't really necesary to strengten it I think. It's main function is to keep the fabric strongle in place, thicken the grip and provide a stronger base for the umbo nails and the rings of the carrying strap. Vale, Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Ceasar Augustus - 08-13-2008 Wow. It's great. Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - brennivs - tony drake - 08-14-2008 You and your comrade look great, well done Marcvs D Regards Brennivs Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Virilis - 08-16-2008 Great Impression & gear once again, Jef  ! Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Et tu brute - 08-16-2008 Wonderful stuff Jef, that gladius is a real work of art from Tony, beautiful work on the scabbard.
