Re: Show here your Roman soldier impression - garrelt - 08-31-2011 My impression is being used for an exhibition. It is good that I have 2 different sets. One shoe is missing because a hole had to be made in the shoe for the mannequin baseplate. Just spotted the ones you posted Ade! Class! Like the black sheild with the lambdas on it! (or whatever the little brass apliques are called) Re: Show here your Roman soldier impression - Crispvs - 09-09-2011 "with the lambdas on it! (or whatever the little brass apliques are called)" They are known as Gammas. If you look carefully at any pictures of me taken in the last three years you will see them on my shield too. Crispvs Re: Show here your Roman soldier impression - Gaius Julius Caesar - 09-09-2011 Thanks Crispus, I do recall! I have been thinking of reinforcing my own scuta with them too. However, I like the black one in particular, the gold stands out awesomely! Who made the seg? Though there is some contrast between the "roughed up" look of the segmentata compared to the nice shiny Gallic F, perhaps your character recently bought the helmet to treat himself after the Battle of Watling Street? (Nevermind the fact Legio II was not present at the Battle of Watling Street) lol Re: Show here your Roman soldier impression - rononmaximus - 09-11-2011 Quote:and this is how the Batavians managed to capture the Roman ships during the revolt - SUBS! Alternative history reenactment, I like it  And Kelvin, I agree, that aged armor looks great! Everyone looks great here, I'm very jealous, nice work. Re: Show here your Roman soldier impression - 66kbm - 09-12-2011 Matt...the Segmentata is a "pool" set from the group, manufactured by a member of the group believe it or not over 15 years ago..it has certainly had its "Optio bashing" over those years....it is looking cleaner now. As for the "shiny" "F" style helmet....well seeing as the Legion was about to invade Britannia and was tasked with conquering/pacifying the locals in the South and West of the country, i thought it best to get some kit renewed so as to make myself Battle ready.New belt is in process although i retain the trusted Mainz Gladius. As for the Battle of Watling Street....well what can i say...we were in the Westcountry and they do make some awfully good Cider. Re: Show here your Roman soldier impression - Gaius Julius Caesar - 09-12-2011 Well, this year spent a lot of time trying to be a late Roman with Comitatus.... I am hoping thi photo is taken while still drawing the bow..... Re: Show here your Roman soldier impression - Robert Vermaat - 09-12-2011 Quote:Well, this year spent a lot of time trying to be a late Roman with Comitatus....Looking good Byron! The only thing I seem to miss is a spatha? Or is it hidden from view in these pictures? Re: Show here your Roman soldier impression - Gaius Julius Caesar - 09-12-2011 Your right Robert, no spatha. Yet! I have a good one with no scabbard, but would love a proper late one, with a pattern welded blade! Re: Show here your Roman soldier impression - scotti73 - 09-12-2011 This is me as a late 1st/early 2nd century Auxiliary, just returned to Roman reenactment after a gap of 15 years or so. Re: Show here your Roman soldier impression - Peroni - 09-13-2011 Nice impression Richard, PM sent... Re: Show here your Roman soldier impression - Joze Noriker - 09-13-2011 Oh yes, very nice fotos!
