Re: Show here your Roman soldier impression - Gaius Colletti - 05-22-2012 I have some new photos! Although not new, the scutum and pilum make their first appearance in this thread. I made a new tunic and finally purchased an accurate belt (Thanks Rusty) as well as the addition to the manica. The crest is not meant to display any NCO status, it was just on the helmet in case anyone was wondering. Re: Show here your Roman soldier impression - Gaius Julius Caesar - 05-28-2012 Looks great Paul! Where did you get the mail coif? Is it of authentic alternating riveted and solid links? I couldn't find one anywhere! Re: Show here your Roman soldier impression - Caballo - 05-28-2012 Great picture,Paul, of a much under represented period. Re: Show here your Roman soldier impression - Paul Elliott - 05-28-2012 Quote:Looks great Paul! The coif was made by a friend. Unfortunately my mail is butted, its also a bit short for the 3rdc, I removed lengths from the sleeves and waist years ago... I really should re-attach them. Re: Show here your Roman soldier impression - tiberius aemilius naso - 05-28-2012 Really cool impressions, Paul! Love the first one, especially! Re: Show here your Roman soldier impression - Gaius Julius Caesar - 05-28-2012 Thanks! The sleeves look just right to be honest! Although I guess longer sleeved mail was coming in then too? Re: Show here your Roman soldier impression - Gaius Colletti - 05-28-2012 Re: Show here your Roman soldier impression - Gaius Colletti - 05-28-2012 Hmm, I still seem to be having problems with the Server 500 error. Hopefully this will be corrected soon [attachment:1]5-21-12 Vespa Roman 016.JPG Re: Show here your Roman soldier impression - ANTONIVS MAGNVS - 05-28-2012 Let me try Matt, here's one from my first time out to an event. I did a bit of HDR editing in Photoshop but nothing over the top (I'm not that old or that dirty! : Re: Show here your Roman soldier impression - Kai - 05-29-2012 Quote:The coif was made by a friend. Unfortunately my mail is butted, its also a bit short for the 3rdc, I removed lengths from the sleeves and waist years ago... I really should re-attach them. Indeed! I enjoyed your pics nonetheless. 8-) Truly this is an underrepresented period, although I find it to be the most fascinating of all Roman military history. I am so happy to see dedicated people reenacting it. (I am not a fan of that deepeeka sword, though...) Re: Show here your Roman soldier impression - Gaius Colletti - 05-29-2012 Jay, the transition from collector to reenactor certainly didn't take long lol. Nice looking kit, got a picture of the rest? Re: Show here your Roman soldier impression - ANTONIVS MAGNVS - 05-29-2012 Quote:Jay, the transition from collector to reenactor certainly didn't take long lol. Nice looking kit, got a picture of the rest? You're not kidding! :-D Gotta say I had a lot of fun. I do have pics of the rest but I'm disappointed with my belt. I put an apron on thinking the discs would come in time but of course they didn't. So I have a belt with plates, buckle, pugio holder terminal ends and NO DISCS! |
