Quote:Ah, Julia, that's not a Saxon's staff, that the Roman standard, the 'draco'.
Oops, I stand corrected, thanks! I didn't know about the draco.
It's quite beautifully done. Big Grin
What did it represent?

Caballo:
Looks great! But aren´t your baldrics and sword(s) a bit "old" for the helmets, belts and tunics?

Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Gaius Julius Caesar - 05-26-2008

Wow, looks great guys!

Was this part of the weekend event, or did you change to batavian kit for displays?

Wish I had made it!

"Looks great! But aren´t your baldrics and sword(s) a bit "old" for the helmets, belts and tunics?"

Well spotted- the baldric and sword are earlier. I am getting the Late kit together kit bit by bit- Saturday was finishing the tinning of the belt parts , staining and oiling the leather and rivetting it all together. Before that the Burgh helmet (made by Peronis with a silver chi rho added by me based on these finds)http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd28/vortigern_studies/christograms.jpg and the tunic.

So for the moment, wearing grandfather's spatha and baldric...! All tips and suggestions very welcome!
