Archaic greaves by Royal Oak Armoury - Jeffrey Hildebrandt - 03-25-2017 This is a pair of custom-fit 8%-tin bronze archaic Greek greaves with felt lining and leather & sinew edge binding I recently finished. The spring potential of the work-hardened bronze allows these greaves to grip the leg tightly and not loosen or gap after repeated opening, as will happen with brass greaves. The bronze was hand-drawn from a thicker plate, and 25% of the weight was removed during grinding and polishing to completely obliterate tool marks, leaving a smooth and highly reflective surface. Finished weight of 800 grams each. After polishing: After lining: Thanks for looking! RE: Archaic greaves by Royal Oak Armoury - Feinman - 03-28-2017 They look excellent! RE: Archaic greaves by Royal Oak Armoury - Giannis K. Hoplite - 05-03-2017 A marvel to see, and presumably wear! Congratulations! |
