Help with German abbreviations - Doc - 09-09-2017

Salve....

I was looking through some sword data and saw the following abbreviations: Kl, Kb,  Al.

What do these mean?  I think the Kl is blade length, the Kb is the guard width or width at widest point?

Al....no idea....

Any help us appreciated...

Thanks

I suppose that (without knowing the textual context) KL could be klingenlänge (blade length), KB could be Klingenbreite (blade width), AL no idea without seeing the tekst.

Hello Robert,

Thank you for the reply. I noticed after I wrote the post that if I take the Kl and add the Al, it is the length of the whole sword. So, it appears that the Al is the tang.

Thanks again….
