Vindolanda finds - John W Davison - 09-10-2017 Apologies if this has already been posted. This appeared in the Observer newspaper (Sunday "version" of the Guardian, hence the web address) today and describes some fairly spectacular new finds from Vindolanda near Hadrian's wall including two well-preserved swords: https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2017/sep/09/hadrians-wall-lost-secrets-roman-vindolanda-unearthed Just try to ignore the reference in the title to the Picts - this stuff dates to around 100AD so about 200 years off the mark! John RE: Vindolanda finds - Alanus - 09-10-2017 Thanks for the link, John. I love the horse bridle links... just like new. RE: Vindolanda finds - Marcus T - 09-10-2017 There re more photos here: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4869836/Secrets-Roman-legionaries-uncovered-Hadrian-s-Wall.html RE: Vindolanda finds - John W Davison - 09-10-2017 Alan, I know - when I saw the photo, I thought it was a replica or something out of their museum shop. Hopefully they will be putting this material on display in the not too distant future, either on-site or at Carvoran. Another re-write for the guidebook, too!
