Roman and vikings - SAJID - 09-28-2021 Hello to all, what is a major difference definition between about Roman and vikings and who came first ? any major fight both? Hope you will help at this topic as before and thanks in advance. with best regards-Sajid RE: Roman and vikings - halstein - 09-28-2021 (09-28-2021, 01:57 PM)SAJID Wrote: Hello to all, It depends on your definition of viking. If you mean Scandinavian early medieval sea-raiders, like is most often meant, they started out in the 780's AD. That is almost 1500 years after the traditional founding of Rome. The word Viking actually means "Sea-raider", so they probably existed from shortly after sea-trade started. Snorri Sturlason, who lived in the 13th century, writes in his king-sagas, that king Sigurd Jorsalfare of Norway, fought Moorish vikings around Gibraltar. If the Rus/Varangoi are counted as Vikings, the Romans did beat them in battle. But most often the Scandinavians fought for the Romans in the Varangian Guard. RE: Roman and vikings - SAJID - 09-29-2021 Hi to all, No any forums of Viking Warriors like R.A.T ? where anybody can discuss about Viking warriors and see their weapons? with best regards-sajid |
