Names and signatures - DECIMvS MERCATIvS VARIANvS - 04-16-2005

Citizens, it has been asked before that all members please add their real names to their signatures... You don't have to remove your Roman name, just put your "muggle" name below it, such as:

a.k.a.: Joe Smith
...something nice and simple like this please! This is all we ask. Isn't it nice to actually know WHO your talking to, rather than some faceless moniker...

Remember, Citizenship has duties and responsibliltiies, as well as benefits. ;-) )

**One thing, we DO make exceptions to posting your "muggle" name _IF_ you have a valid reason, and by this, we mean job, security, or other reasons of personal safety... not "Ah don't want ma fishin' buddies ta know ah like Roman stuff..."

Anyway, Caesar asked me to post this and you don't really want to anger HIM... do you??

Google proofing your real name - marsvigilia - 04-21-2005

For those wishing to keep their real names off of google's radar screen, may I suggest adding a space in the middle of your last name. This would allow fellow Romans to know to whom they correspond but might impede more automated engines of inquiry.

Is it possible that there are re-enactors in this world that are ashamed about their hobby? I'm just starting and I do it with pride (well, I do everything with pride, lol). But then, people know me for acting weird, so re-enactment just lays in the line of what can be expected from me, lol...

And my name is not uncommon in this part of the world, so googleing on my name can give puzzleing results

Actually yes. Some businessses will look askance at their employees doing this kind of thing. It depends but people have lost jobs because of their hobbies. Also, sometimes you just don't want your "fake life" to interfere w/ your "real life."

That's easy. Because you're a lot more important to us than to photobucket! Now you know who your friends are.
