Photos from the Hamburg MKG collection - Carlton Bach - 07-11-2005

I managed to wheedle a photo permit for the Museum fuer Kunst und Gewerbe antiquities collection. Admittedly, it's mostly a strictly art collection, but there's some stuff that might interest you here. I can share:

photos of a 4th century Italiote muscled cuirass

a Siceliote helmet (5 cent BC) shaped like a pointy felt hat

2 pottery figurines of armoured men from Canosa, 3rd cent BC

a 6th century BC red-figure vase showing two hoplites

a 7th century BC Corinthian flask showing hoplites

three Byzantine (6/7th century AD) applique pieces for tunics

well, and a pretty explicit depiction of homosexual anal sex on an Etruscan grave sculpture.

If anyone is interested, drop me a line and I'll mail you the pictures.

Volker,
Are those applique pieces tapestry woven textiles of the 'Coptic' type?
I would be interested on them, if so.
Thanks,

Aitor

Very Etruscan, I guess. Always good for a surprise.
