A question for Aitor or Robert - Crispvs - 07-19-2005

Does anyone know of any early fourth century military buckles made of bone? 'Common sense' suggests to me that they must have existed, but when I think about it I cannot remember reading about any or seeing pictures of any. Can anyone help?

Crispus,
I haven't heard of ivory or bonen buckles earlier than sixth century AD but they could exist. Anyway, if they existed, they were minoritary, in view that most archaeological environments (granit or sandy soils and acid bogs excluded) preserve bone and, therefore, a good deal of bonen buckles should have been preserved, which is not the case... :?:
