Linothorax in roman army? - TFLAVIUSAMBIORIX - 10-31-2005 I was reading, a while back as a latin student, something about caracalla having troops who wore linothorax. Is this evidenced in the roman military in any form before this time? maybe among eastern auxiliaries? VALETE Re: Linothorax in roman army? - Praefectusclassis - 10-31-2005 Caracalla wanted to imitated Alexander the Great and is said to have equipped a legion as a Macedonian Phalanx (prolly in Dio and Herodian). It's therefore clearly a break with the past, if true. Re: Linothorax in roman army? - FAVENTIANVS - 11-01-2005 Graham Sumner, in his book ROMAN MILITARY CLOTHING I made a reconstruction of it. |
