the living history authenticity test - satsobek - 11-27-2005

this test is really designed for wwii re-enactors, but i think any period should be able to easily make substitutions. see how you stack up. Smile

Re: the living history authenticity test - Carlton Bach - 11-27-2005

It is fun. Does anyone know how that OKCupid software works?

Re: the living history authenticity test - satsobek - 11-27-2005

not entirely sure to be honest, though i think it is quite easy. you just sign in, get a username and then you can make your own tests. i think the tests can be as easy or hard as you want-- you write the questions and assign point values to the answers that count toward the total score. the system also allows you to make multi-variable tests, so in theory you could create a test with a huge range of possible results that score in many areas. i think it is mostly a question of the time you have for writing questions and coming up with expositions for your various possible results. why i haven't done it-- looks like a lot of prep work. :?

but the system itself-- web-based and very user-friendly.

Re: the living history authenticity test - Arthes - 11-28-2005

Greetings,
10 out of 10.....even when admitting to sleeping in modern camping gear...!
72 overall authenticity and higher than 99% for my age group...
You are very authentic but dont want to overdo it. Yes it has to look perfect and you want as much as possible to look good but why go over the top? Some people might want to wear authentic underwear, sleep in ditches, carry letters from home, etc. To you some of this is taking everything a bit too serious. But either way you are a example to many reenactors and do a good job of it.
I could answer 'yes' to the 'authentic paperwork' - from my late Father and Grandfather..
When a little girl, I remember dressing up in my Grandfather's (I think) old 'tin hat' and a gas mask..which I had found when digging around in the old boxes in the attic - which I used to love doing, if I was not digging up the garden looking for ancient remains - or trying to find Australia...I once found a rusty rapier, believe it or not, which was swiftly taken away much to my annoyance !!!
(I really should have been an archaeologist..... :? )
regards
Arthes

Way-hey!

I scored 88% overall and 99% for my age group! I must tell my wife - she might start to understand me better and stop complaining about tripping over re-enactment kit every second of the day.

Re: the living history authenticity test - Primvs Pavlvs - 11-28-2005

Since I have been known to re-enact WW2, I was glad to see this answer.

Your scary, your so authentic that if you would be send back in time to the 1940's people wont even notice you. You love getting all those little details right, dont you?

You scored higher than 99% on authenticity

mmmh, 56% Roman soldier....99%plus on authenticity....being a fairly honest late Roman type....!!!

I tried a Harry Potter one....
Dudley Dursley
Congratulations! You scored 48!
Shameful. Pathetic. Have you even heard of Harry Potter? When was the last time you went to the cinema? CAN YOU EVEN READ? You know nothing about Harry Potter. You are not worthy of this test. Go hang your head in shame!

My test tracked 1 variable How you compared to other people your age and gender:

You scored higher than 99% on snitches
Well, as I have only read one chapter of one book and never seen a film.....that is about right....all I know is Lucius is the meanie and Harry is the goodie.

Re: the living history authenticity test - TFLAVIUSAMBIORIX - 11-29-2005

Congratulations, you are 96% Roman soldier!

hmm, okay, I thought for sure I screwed up more than that.

BTW, on a really serious note, if you actually are drinking the river water, please mix wine in with it, I got parasites a while back drinking straight river water. I really think the romans would have had presence of mind to do this (unlike I did until last year  )

Re: the living history authenticity test - Crispvs - 11-29-2005

Not bad at all Carlton!

83% Roman soldier. More than 99% on accuracy.

Gosh! My wife must be impressed by now.

Like Oedipus, however, I was blighted from the start. Pvblivs Atillivs Crispvs is only listed on someone else's stele. Crispvs was the commander of his vexillatio. Nothing more is known of him, so I couldn't name a voting tribe!

Re: the living history authenticity test - Robert Vermaat - 11-29-2005

Couldn't find the Romantest, so I took the Death Test.
Apparently, I'm going to die around March 2043, aged 79, probably of a heart attack (I should do more exercise!)..
But this is how they picture it:

I'M GOING TO DIE BECAUSE OF RE-ENACTMENT - SOMEONE'LL STAB ME TO DEATH!! Big Grin shock:

Well, if I did, I may have a glorious career! Imagine that - death in the arena at 79! I must become a great glad Big Grin

Khaire Vortigern,

Would you have it any other way? Death by re-enactment will be my lot. It is the ultimate re-enactment of combat. Come to think of it, EVERYONE is a combat re-enacter in the end...

Khaire,

Re: the living history authenticity test - LUCIUS ALFENUS AVITIANUS - 11-30-2005
