Looks like a lot of work mapping out women's artifacts within forts, so perhaps they weren't men only?.

'Women and the Roman Army in Britain', by Lindsay Allason-Jones, points out that throughout the empire there were centurions' wives at forts that have no obvious vicus or adjacent civilian settlement. Arguments pointing out that centurions' quarters were too small fall flat when a comparison is made against typical middle-class strip-houses in south England which were smaller, and many of the houses at Verulamium and Colchester are of similar size to the centurions' houses on Hadrian's Wall.

It has been mentioned in several ancient sources that the army set up state prostution services.
I read this in "Rome at War 263-696" the Osprey book, so it should have fairly good information.
