Scissor relief - Martin Moser - 01-27-2006

FYI - Found a Scissor relief at

http://ancientrome.ru/art/artworke/img.htm?&id=768

(the image can also be seen in Marcus Junkelmanns Spiel mit dem Tod) - if the gladiator Myron was indeed a Scissor, nobody could finally prove that that type was actually called "scissor" though it seems probable.

(search page is

- from the civ talk forum)

cheers,

Martin

Re: Scissor relief - Gashford - 01-30-2006

It would be interesting to see how many of these gladiators existed. I have only seen two graves of them, both in the east.

I have always wondered if perhaps this was a way round an amputated hand? I base this on nothing but my own speculation and the fact that these gladiators don't seem very common.
