Greek statues Aphaia temple - Jona Lendering - 01-28-2006

A German professor from Munich, whose name I do not remember, has studied ancient sculptures of the Aphaia temple in the Munich Glyptothek with UV-light. He is now able to reconstruct the patterns of painting that were once there. The results were shown in a nice exposition in the Amsterdam Allard Pierson Museum ( http://cf.uba.uva.nl/apm/FrameSet2.html )

I've seen this archer before, but these are particularly good pictures of it. The stele of Aristion was new to me. Thanks for posting them, Jona.

I saw this statue during my visit to Carlsberg NY Glyptotek in Copenhagen!
