Hi , Does anyone have a contact for a good supplier Hopefuly in the UK for ceramics , Drinking vessels , bowls and the like . If suppliers are outside the UK then thats not a problem as long as shipping does not take forever .

for samian ware, Gilbert Burroughes--"Ambleside", Chediston, Halesworth, Suffolk IP19 0AQ , UK (no email or website). He does have a phone number somewhere.

What sort of pottery does MacDonald do? How do his prices compare to the other two?

He'll have a go at anything you ask and his prices are pretty good. You'll need to be specific and supply good archaeological standard drawings. He did a complicated flagon (the original is the 3rd pot down on the page here: http://www.whitehallvilla.co.uk/materia ... _pots.html ) for the Whitehall Roman Villa Excavations, and sold me one of the copies for £15.

Trinity does some nice stuff, but most of it is too early for Late Roman, which is why I''ve used MacDonald, asking him to do specifically late pots. MacDonald often has some good early stuff in stock, including mortaria seconds for about £5.00, and a nice cheese press. He's worth a look the next time you're in Lincoln, particularly as his workshop is close to the centre. Both Trinity Court Potteries and John Hudson are very good on getting the fabrics right, as well as the forms. I've had pots from all three and they're excellent.

A customer from Illinois ordered a half-scale reproduction of a Pompeii VI amphora from me to put in her kitchen. It was a Christmas gift for her husband. The way that she displayed it is absolutely beautiful, and I posted it on my website.
