Military History - Praefectusclassis - 03-01-2006

I know (ok, I suppose  ) you're all interested in Roman Military history, but what else interests you?

Re: Military History - Tarbicus - 03-01-2006

Add a 'No Other', and I can vote

Re: Military History - Praefectusclassis - 03-01-2006

Re: Military History - Jeroen Pelgrom - 03-01-2006

Jasper,

in the poll i see "19th century US warfare, incl. Civil War" 2 times

Re: Military History - FAVENTIANVS - 03-01-2006

I voted for ancient military history in general, but I also love the Dark ages.

Re: Military History - Praefectusclassis - 03-01-2006

In that case, you should have voted 'two to four of the above'

@Jeroen: Poll was mixed up, I had to go into the database, but I think it's fixed now.

Re: Military History - TraderTrey9785 - 03-02-2006

Jasper,

I voted for two to four of the above because I'm pretty interested in Greek Warfare, along with Roman. I also like Medieval Military History (Saxon and Viking), and Naval warfare from the 17th and 18th Centuries. Naturally, the American Revolution was stressed throughout all of my history classes in high school (particularly in the American South, where I'm from). Every period has its highlights and downfalls...taken together they're all pretty interesting.

Thanks!

Re: Military History - Robert Vermaat - 03-05-2006

Aegean Bronze Age
West European Dark Ages
Byzantine
Norman
Crusades
WW2
WW3

(Oh I guess I should have voted 'more than four'.. Big Grin )

Re: Military History - Optio equitum - 03-06-2006

I guess I should have put 2 to 4, add Greek Warfare, and American Civil War (since I found family members who fought on both sides)

Re: Military History - Muzzaguchi - 03-10-2006

Hi All,

Greek
Roman
(I'll put in didactic military literature as a separate topic)
Dark Ages/Viking
Early Modern
Napoleonic
WWI
WWII

Re: Military History - Virilis - 03-10-2006

-Roman history
-Greek history
-Dark ages
-Egypt, Mesopotamia, Assyria; bronze age world in general
-crusades (military orders)

Which cultures/periods I don`t have a passion: (I have a limited life-span and I have to follow my "heart" ) This is not a rational choice, I am just following "the spark" which led me to roman history...

-India
-Africa
-China
-Japan

I do have a soft spot for native american cultures like Mayas, Aztecs, Olmecs.... This is due to my childhood fascination with Atlantis and the hazy characters like, Cuculcan, Viracocha and the great flying serpent/astronaut Quetzalcoatl, thanks to Erik Däniken  ....

History Lover - Caius Valens - 03-18-2006

Caius Here , Well Rome of course also the Dark Ages and the Normans, thats pretty much it. Cheers Caius/Thomas

Re: Military History - Magnus - 05-01-2006

Ummm...where's the option for japanese?

I love roman military history...but i've, also recently gotten fairly interested in Japanese history, from the period of warring states 1480's - the meiji restoration of 1876.

I have also loved the age of sail...Horatio Hornblower...great A&E series!

Re: Military History - Praefectusclassis - 05-01-2006

That would be 'Non-western'...

Re: Military History - Magnus - 05-01-2006

That's a pretty big area...lol.
