3D Newstead lorica seg - mcbishop - 08-07-2001

To coincide with the publication of the new reconstruction of the Newstead lorica seg, the JRMES website ( www.jrmes.org ) now includes a page containing AVI and MPEG animations of my 3d model of it (the movies work fine on my Linux version of Netscape, but you may find some problems on Windoze... beyond the usual ones!). It is also available as a VRML2 model (and there are idealized patterns for the curious).

If you want to know how it was done (why would you?), the cuirass was traced from 1:1 photos of the Newstead plates and modelled in AC3D, and rendered and animated in Bryce3D.

To get there, go to the main site

www.jrmes.org

and follow links for the Contents -> volume 10 and look for the link on the vol.10 page.
Looks great! I won't even ASK how long it took to create something like that.
