My attempts on a hellenistic thyreophoros:

Re: Show here your Greek warrior impression - Ifikrates - 11-14-2009

Hello
I am Eduardo Guillén, founder of Atenea Promakhos.
Although I should like very much to participate in the Roman Army forum, I d’ont believe I can do it often, because usually I have few time and besides, I speak, read and write English with many limitations and difficulties, but there is many time I wished to send regards to all reenactment fellows in the forum, I see from time to time.
In this moment I have found the time and an small pretext to do it, when I have seen a very good image of an hellenistic warrior thyreophoros.
Now we are also beginning to develop the hellenistic-punic period and I should like to share my first attempt to reconstruct a punic warrior on a cartaginian event, were some of us participated in Ibiza on last October, were some people are working on that theme.
Very kind regards to every body

Re: Show here your Greek warrior impression - hoplite14gr - 11-14-2009

Well done Eduardo.
I belive that with minor details changes the "punics" could become Ptolemaic or other Hellenistic infantry.
Here (with the kind help of the Heteroi) is my interpretation of late period hoplte that could cover 400 B.C to 146 B.C.
Kind regards

Fantastic, Eduardo!

I hope that you can communicate more often!

Re: Show here your Greek warrior impression - barcid - 11-16-2009

Well done .Very Good to see some Punic Impressions 8)

Re: Show here your Greek warrior impression - Ifikrates - 11-17-2009

Thankyou for your welcome to the forum. I shall try to participate more often.
I have illusion with our new activities in punic events. I always liked III and II before Christ centuries, but until today, I think, no one roman group in Spain choosed that time. I believe is the most historically interesting in ancient peninsula, with the punic wars and the main part of roman conquest. These are the first attemps and there are still many things to investigate and correct.
I add two links to see two movies of the event. I could not see the first one on my PC, but I think it’s nice

Re: Show here your Greek warrior impression - John Conyard - 11-17-2009

In the UK Punic War impressions are few and far between. I did meet some re-enactors from the USA on Hadrians Wall, dressed as legionaries from the Punic Wars, but that was a special occasion. Your Greek and Punic impressions look great. Just what do you do with all that sunshine?

Re: Show here your Greek warrior impression - hoplite14gr - 11-17-2009
