Giannis, What is the hat called that you are wearing and did you make it also? Thanks Re: Show here your Greek warrior impression - Giannis K. Hoplite - 08-17-2010 This would be a boeotian hat made of thick felt. Most of them had a bit smaller brims but bigger ones did exist. I made it out of a female hat that was made of surprisingly good quality felt! Khaire Giannis Re: Show here your Greek warrior impression - hoplite14gr - 08-17-2010 well done Renger Some shot from todays hard work for a children's program: Re: Show here your Greek warrior impression - Giannis K. Liebau - 08-31-2010 Stefanos, I like the 600 BC impression. Do you have more pictures of this kit? Is the right arm harness entirely of bronze, and what is the evidence for the extension over the hand? Looks good to me. Cheers! -Gregory Re: Show here your Greek warrior impression - hoplite14gr - 08-31-2010 The pre-Classical hoplite full armor items come mostly from Olympia with piece existing in other museums too. Not all of them are exibited but designs exist in the "angriffswaffen aus Olympia" and since the book is early last century you might find them on the net. The extension over the hand is from this book as far as I know. More photos: http://s197.photobucket.com/albums/aa16 ... C04460.jpg http://s160.photobucket.com/albums/t178 ... Still need a lot of work on the kits but its a start. Edward Re: Show here your Greek warrior impression - Andy - 09-20-2010 Not much kit at the moment, but its a start. Helmet is from Manning Imperial in Australia, a piece well worth the wait. Next year will have greaves from him as well as one of his aspis. Please feel free to critique the rest of the kit. Re: Show here your Greek warrior impression - Giannis K. Hoplite - 09-20-2010 Hello Andy. I know what it is like to be recieving your M.I. helmet after a long wait! I should say that the chlamis must be longer. There should be more matterial hanging from your ight shoulder. Also, add a waight of 20-30 gr in each one of the corners. Few re-enactors cae to add this detail but all chlmides and some times even the himatia had them. I don't have a good view of the chiton. It seems fine, but i can't see the design of the "seeves". In the time of the corinthian helmet chitons used o be literally sleeveless. Khaire Giannis |
