Show here your Greek warrior impression - Giannis K. Hoplite - 12-05-2013

Well, it should be alum tanned, and it certainly is not painted, but i think it is actually chrome tanned. The supplier didn't know, he said something like "not fully tanned" or "not properly tanned" and it doesn't have skin side, it is like two flesh sides. I do know it is cow hide but parts of it are more flexible than veg. tanned and some other parts are stiffer, like the yoke. I used two layers for the body and three for the yoke, because those stiffer parts were also thinner.

Great impressions, every one.

Giannis, how do your greaves stay on when moving about? Do they wrap right around your calves?
And do the ankle rests help in that regards too?

Show here your Greek warrior impression - Giannis K. Hoplite - 05-22-2014

Byron, unfortunately my greaves are non-existent. Surely you speak about Diomed's greaves. I think they are customized DSC greaves?

Show here your Greek warrior impression - Invictus_Thrax - 05-22-2014

Hello Byron, the greaves are made to measurement by Al Hamdd Trading Post.
They actually fit quite without the padding but I found them out to be a lot more comfortable to my ankle and bones with some sheepskin beneath them.
It even helps making them stick very well to my legs and absorb the power of blunt weapons.

I tried out for fun practising my martial arts kicks with them but they don't come off so that's good. Big Grin

Thank guys. Yes I realised that after posting and forgot to amend.

I seemed to recall though Giannis, you were posting about ankle supports for greaves some time back, so I thought you would have had time to try them with some greaves?

Why can we not edit our own posts?

This is part of an ongoing project. I'm not sure about the accuracy of paint and the liner of the helmet, so that will probably be changed soon. All pieces are made by Daniyal, but the liner of the helmet of sheep leather, cotton, and felt, and all paint and etching are my doing.

Hello!
So there are some photos of our ANABASIS society and our friens from the Crimean festival that took place this September in Russia (Crimea, near Sevastopol (ancient Hersones) ).
This was a great and awesome event and for us it was very important because it gave us an opportunity to visit the places of our historical interest (our society is reconstructing the citizens of Bosporian kingdom)
