Kiev museums Scythian and Sarmatian artefacts - bachmat66 - 02-13-2007 Hey check these images from the Kiev museums - Scythian and Sarmatian and some Greek artefacts Some of what you will has been published in many books. There are some nice pictures of helmets, swords, horse bridles etc enjoy: http://museum.velizariy.kiev.ua/kiev/nimu_an/index.html http://museum.velizariy.kiev.ua/kiev/ma_zsdu/index.html Ukrainian Armed Forces museum http://museum.velizariy.kiev.ua/kiev/ma_osn/index.html Re: Kiev museums Scythian and Sarmatian artefacts - Paullus - 02-14-2007 Very nice collection of photographs! Any information on this particular helmet? http://museum.velizariy.kiev.ua/kiev/ma ... get74.html http://museum.velizariy.kiev.ua/kiev/ma ... get75.html I'm supposing that it is Sarmatian, considering the swords and in particular the ring pommel daggers in the photos around it. Almost looks like a Dacian helmet that was posted on the boards some time back, not to mention a descendant of the Greek Chalcidian type. Dates available? There appear to be some later weapons and artefacts mixed in as well. The one sword appears to be Viking, while another seems to be a yatagan. Re: Kiev museums Scythian and Sarmatian artefacts - M. CVRIVS ALEXANDER - 02-14-2007 Quote:Very nice collection of photographs! It says here - http://museum.velizariy.kiev.ua/kiev/ma ... get73.html - that the artifacts 4-10 (which includes the helmet) are Sarmatian, 1-2 c. AD. It also says that the helmet and the swords are made of iron. Re: Kiev museums Scythian and Sarmatian artefacts - Paullus - 02-15-2007 Many thanks and laudes Re: Kiev museums Scythian and Sarmatian artefacts - lup_alb - 02-16-2007 Laudes Alexander and bachmat.
