Thracian King\'s Tomb
#16
No, not really. There's also a picture of a Thracian helmet at Sasheve Mogila http://tracianvalley.hit.bg/sasheva.html and the best pictures I've seen yet of the greaves and helmet at Golyamata Kosmatka http://tracianvalley.hit.bg/gallery5.html#kosm5

I have also received the following from Vassil Karloukovski, who runs the web site referred to above with all the Thracian pictures:
Here are two links, with some pictures, of a V-VI c. BC fortress/residence currently being excavated by Daniela Agre. She calls it 'tjursis' (its area is 220 m2). Some of the stones of the wall wiegh more than a ton, and there are up to 4-5 rows of stones (1.8 m) preserved in place. The walls are 2.5-2.8 metres thick, etc. Various coins have been found, dating from the end of the V c. BC to the end of the IV c. AD. The town of Koprivshtitsa is in the Sredna Gora mountains, close to Panagjurishte in central Bulgaria.

The pictures on the second page are personal, made by Emil Zhivkov (aka 'Ziezi'). He wrote there were some other finds there but he would leave it to the excavator to announce them.

Quote:Hi, I just found some great colour photos of the recently discovered Thracian weapons and armour at http://tracianvalley.hit.bg/gallery6.html#sve4 - it seems there's been a lot more discovered than has been mentioned in the reports

Cheers,

Chris

Very nice. I particularly like the kopis sword. Will we see some of these in the book?

Just a note, it only seems to open in Internet Explorer -- Firefox gives me garbage.
