Hello everybody. I'm new on this forum, and because cannot find the presentation section i will introduce myself (shortly) here.
I'm Alessandro, from Sardinia. A beautifull island between Europe and Africa, rich of monuments of an ancient era.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuraghe
http://www.sardegnapixel.it/Sard_Nuraghe-.jpg
I'm always been interested in ancient history, especially Greek and Nuragic civilization.
I was seeking for Sardinian warriors in the web, but i have found this forum because i was also searching for oplitic armament and weapons, for my reenacting group (we follow the steps of the ancient Cohors II Sardorum and the story of the Judges in medioeval times of Sardinia)
So, when i have seen this section my idea was to argue about ancient Sardinian "Pellitic" warriors (So called by Cicero's oration pro Scauro) and the Amphsicora's rebellion of 215 A.c.
Especially about the possible armour that could identify this etnic group.
Surely they were equipped with lightly armour and light-infantry weapons.
But i guess that the frequently tradings with African and Iberian mercenaries could uniform the armament of this kind of warriors.
What do you think?
well, See ya
And...sorry for my very scholastic english....
