Do you guys know of any specific battles in which the roman legion beat the phalanx? I know about Pydna and Cynoscephalae but are there any others of note?
Thanks,
Elias

Could you be more specific? Do you want to know of battles where the Romans beat phalanx based armies (I guess you mean equipped in the Macedonian manner) or of battles where the legionary line beat the phalanx itself after a frontal fight?

I'd say just battles where the roman army beat a phalanx based army, and yes I do mean macedonian style phalanx.

Then I'd add :
- Beneventum (the 3rd battle against Pyrrhus), 275 BC The battles against Hannibal and the rest of the Carthgaginians in the 2nd Punic War (assuming that the Libyans were armed with the sarisa as Polybius suggests in his text discussing the efficiency of the Macedonian phalanx against the Roman system - others suggest they were armed with spears or even in the Roman manner, in the case of Hannibal specifically). These would be : -Baecula, 208 -Metaurus, 207 -Ilippa, 206 -Zama, 202 - Thermopylae, 191 (against Antiochus) - Magnesia, 190 (against Antiochus)

Maybe it could be added:
- Lamia 209 BC - Aous 198 BC |
