ANCIENT REENACTING
IRON AGE BRITON

Imagine the thrill of ancient Britons charging through the forest smashing desperately against the steel of the roman line. Disciplined Roman soldiers thrust and parry the barbarians’ frenzied attacks. The battle is short but deadly proving not only the discipline of the Romans but also the fearsome resolve of the Britons.
Join either the victorious Roman Army at their marching fort or the soon to be conquered Celtic Barbarians in their village at BRITON A.D. 43 on March 18,19,20, 2005, for a weekend of Ancient Reenacting. The site opens at 12 NOON on March 18th. and is located in LAFE, ARKANSAS on 94 acres of private land. There are several ponds, woods, fields, and places for Celts and courageous Romans to interact in meaningful and constructive ways. We look forward to seeing you around the campfire.
Tactical force on force will be held on Saturday with a feast to be held Saturday night in the Roman fort. The first tactical will be a search and destroy for the Romans and ambush for the Celts/Picts. The second scenario will be a Chieftain/Centurions' pick. This event will be the fourth hosted on this site and be prepared for primitive conditions. We request each adult participant to donate $10.00 for the evening meals, straw bedding, and firewood provided.

Here are a few rules for the safety of participants.

No drugs are allowed period.

2. Alcohol will be permitted however, there will be NO alcohol given to or consumed by minors (under age 21) at any time.

Campfires will be built only in authorized fire pits.

Campfires will have a "fire watch" at all times. FIRES WILL BE ATTENDED AT ALL TIMES.

The Roman Group will have a leader, as well as the Celtic and Pictish Group. These persons will be responsible for fire prevention and your safety. In an emergency, please listen to them and be vigilant about the fire risk.

Upon arrival, please sign in and let the staff know if there are any medical conditions or allergies which we need to know about (beestings, food allergies, diabetes, etc.)

Small children left unattended will be sold as galley slaves; small children who are supervised are welcome to stay.

The owner of the land and the staff will not be held responsible for accidents, injury, or lost items. Please be careful and obey the rules.

9. Any infraction of the above rules could mean expulsion from the site.

This is private land and the landowner will be fighting for Rome and tossing pila as well, but we should remind all thatâ€â€Â

Hey Dave!
Do you think you guys may ever host a late Roman event at the fort? I know that my unit would probably make plans to come one day, if it was a late scenario. Heck, I would come just to get a peek at the fort...
Lucius Aurelius Metellus, miles gregarius, Secunda Brittanica

Ave Lvcivs,

I'm sure Carl wouldn't mind at all, you would have to talk to him about scheduling it. They will be working on the site from Jan-March on the weekends.

The barracks is about 3/4ths done and needs a final skim coat of material on the 3 walls and the porch and front wall need to be done then it's just a few details after that. They plan on more buildings as well. There is a moat and bank and two towers at each entrance.

The celts will be starting our village in Jan.

Also you all are welcome to the event as well. I think you would be able to fill in as Aux troops. Plus the food is Great.
New info for Romans

Barracks space will be reserved for ISPA Legionnaires and contributors
of the build on a space-available basis. Centurions must give Mark a
list of who is attending the event by Jan 1 to reserve a spot. If you
want to sleep under tegulae in a warm straw bed, respond as soon as
possible.

Please remember this a reenactment event. There are no paved roads and
the possibility of rain, cold, mud, and barbarian invasions exist.

What to expect?
Good food and comradeship.
Combat Patrols during the day.
Mud.
Lots of firewood.
I am confused, Dave, why do you want this information too? I was told to give the information to Mark or Carl? This seems like a duplication of effort? Or are you doing something else?

Caius, I'm a dummy, I added the addendum without the Caveat of contacting Mark vice me. That's what I get for taking text out of context. Tongue
Join either the victorious Roman Army or the soon to be conquered
Pictish/Celtic Barbarians at BRITAIN A.D. 43 On March 18, 19 and 20
for a weekend of Ancient Reenacting. The site opens at 12 NOON on
March 18th. and is located in LAFE, ARKANSAS on 94 acres of private
land. There are several ponds, woods, fields, and many places for
Celts and courageous Romans to interact in meaningful and constructive
ways. We look forward to seeing you around the campfire.
This event will be the fifth hosted on this site. We request each
adult participant to donate $10.00 for the evening meals, straw
bedding, and firewood provided

IRECTIONS

If you are coming from Oklahoma or Texas take your best route to
Jonesboro, Arkansas; then proceed north on Hwy 49.

If you are coming east through Memphis, Tennessee, take Hwy 55 to US 63.
Make sure you follow the speed limit to the letter in Tyronza to
Marked Tree, Arkansas, (the biggest speed traps in the state, if not
the world).

Arriving in Jonesboro, participants should take the best route north
to Paragould, Arkansas.

Take 49 north; then turn onto Hwy 135 north (the intersection across
from Pannell Ford on the north side of town.)

Drive approximately 9 miles to Lafe, Arkansas.

Upon reaching Lafe, you will pass a small convenience store; about 1/4
mile past the store, turn Right onto Valley drive and drive to the end
of the paved road. Valley drive is a paved road and is next to St.
Johns Lutheran Church. St. Johns has a cemetery and, if you are
arriving at night, a blue cross lit above the steeple will be visible.

Drive straight into the field and sign in. Look for the signs in Lafe
that look like a Roman shield for directions.

If you plan on arriving later than 2200 (10 PM) on Friday please
e-mail me so that we can arrange to meet you at the gate.

Hope to see you around the fire.
