Hi

I just got replica of roman razor as a gift .. from somebody who know nothing about origins of this item.

Could any one help me to discover ...

1. is this exact replica of any finding ?
2. if yes .. from where and when does it comes ?

If you have pictures or links to any other roman razors collection do not hesitate to share with us.

Wow... I LIKE that razor. I have no idea what it's based on, or if it's accurate for the Roman period, but that doesn't stop me from WANTING one... do you know from where it was purchased?

It is similar to Holger Ratsdorf's 3rd century razor knife, although not the exact same style. Holger's replica is based on one found at Mainz, Germany.

Have you tried using this razor?

Yes I have tried .. once Smile

... with no effect ... perhaps it's still not too sharp. On the other hand is very difficult to operate with this tool. Maybe it will be easier when someone else will try to shave ME...

I taught myself how to shave with a 75 year old safety razor. I learned after a few times that there is a method. I imagine there is a special way to use one of these too. So be safe when you practise!
