Here's a question that was put to me by someone to whom I was talking of the emperor Commodus.
"Is the name Commodus related with the word commode?"
He got me there... Confusedhock:
Maybe someone could help me avoid making a fool of myself in front of a layperson?

Yes, they are related... Latin commodus means "convenient" or "accomodating," applicable to a person or a thing. It came into French as commode and thence to English, originally meaning "a chest of drawers," and only later coming to mean (in English) "toilet."

Nothing about Commodus being a crappy emperor...
