Square or weighted Pilum?
#1
Salve,

First request and certainly look candid, nor stupid but after a first research, i can't find which Pilum could be used by Legion II Augusta 9- 43 AD
Square or weighted one?

Regarding the unit member i try to reenact, could a Imperial Gallic type H Helmet be the good one, looking at Depeeka production, sooner i ll have plan to change my poor Denix replica one :

and last one, for Cinculum belt, what advised me? A link for a sales in Europa or overseas, saw 69euros to 150$ one but the 150 got no ring or space to hang the Puggio

Sorry if it has already been answered

Hello, Christophorus

Square pilum it's better than weighted one.

For the time range you proposed, were better you'll buy a deepeka gallic G, the next Gallic F, or even a Gallic A (all the NEW models).

For the cingulum, why don't you buy the pieces and make your own cingulum? It's not dificult and probably will be cheaper, and of course more personalized.

Don't hesitate to do any question, here are a lot of people ready to answer.

Muchos Gracias Lucius for the quick answer,
doing myself could be a challenge, putting elastic straps and metal buttons on Star Wars Stormtrooper Armor was a adventure, so working with leather and metal...
But why not? Could be funny and be proud of what i ve product myself

Big Grin

"the next Gallic F"???? Depeek??

Christophus,

You can also use some of the Coolus type helmets for this period. Coolus C, D and E are suitable.

Gallic A, C, F and G would be the preferable Gallic Types.

Italic B also.

There are many suppliers of cingulum and balteus components in Europe.

Hans Binsfeld http://www.binsfeld-replikate.de/cingulum.htm
Nodge Nolan
all make high quality pieces.

Hans Binsfeld also makes the Kalkriese gladius too.
