Ermm.. what are laudes?

Hello everyone,

I noticed in our profile at the side of our postings there are Laudes + -
what are they for? I'm guessing that it's like... you were helpful and someone gave you a laude? Or something like that?

It seems to be an interesting function. Is it possible to check who gave u a laude? And when you do want to give a laude to a person do you have to state the reason why? Or is it automatic?

Basically if you see a post that you think went above and beyond, or just answered a question you had, or just made you feel good, then you can award a positive laude. (The negative function is disabled). I suspect that Jasper or a tech could figure out who awarded a laud, if they wanted to decompile the data, but usually you have no idea who gave you a laude, unless they take time to mention it in their post.

Well, that would be very, very difficult. I might add that giving / receiving laudes is not a contest! Moreover, they will be reset every January 1st (starting Jan 2008).
