Just a note to say I've had a couple of spaces become available for the mosaic workshop this weekend here in the UK. The details are on the website and the price is still £65. I just received another order of marble at the beginning of the week so there's plenty to use, about 160 kgs of the stuff!

Hi,
Click on the www icon at the bottom of this message and go to the 'workshop' section and it has the details of the day there. The mosaic section will be dealing with commision work and is still being finalised.
The workshop has been set up so people can, in the space of a day make a 30cm x 30cm marble mosaic on mesh using the same tools the Romans used to cut the material. They'll also be given an understanding of the 'rules' the Romans used in setting the pieces which differentiate their work from contempary pieces.
Cheers

Lawrence,
Have you make the mosaic for the Biblical Museum of Tarragona?

Cesar,
Yes, I made the copy of the Optimus mosaic, the Fish and Loaves piece and have done half of the Baptismal Font. Unfortunately the museum has had to put this work on hold to sort out fire regulations for the building. Hopefully they'll get it sorted soon so the museum can open to the public.

Congratulations! I live in Tarragona, and i'm friend of the Museum's director, so i have seen your work:
Your mosaic is exceptionally close to the original one.

Lawrence,
Beautiful work! Have you ever done workshops or demonstrations in the US?

Thanks Lucianus!
I've not been over to the States for many years, there is a real big mosaic 'scene' there I know but mostly it does seem to be contempary work. If ever I do make a trip over it would be good to take in a few of the shows there and see what it's like.
