Excellent work, Cesar! How did you make the ribbed crossbands for the frame? I tried to do that and failed, so I'm curious.

There are made with a rolling machine. You can do with some embossing,
the ribbed crossband of the sword in the middle are made such way.
To emboss, you have to use some iron bars to use as pattern. Put the bars (0,5 cm diameter, or so) over the brass and the brass over a thick piece of leather or a soft wood piece. Then hit the bars with a hammer, and the bars will mark the brass, producing the ribs.
You can put back the piece and hammer at the back side, for achieve the final appearence.

The top sword is a comercial sword reworked. The new ones are made with a new bone. The cow probably are "big sized", so the bone is very big.
Probably a thinner grip is more beautiful, but i prefer a thick one, for handling.
There are hundreds of bone preserved, and there are hundreds of sizes and sections (octogonals, rounded, hexagonal, squarish, square with the corners cuted, etc...)

The middle one is quite short compared to the other 2?
I agree about a thicker grip being better for handling. I prefer this too.

Great work on them all.
Interesting method for embossing the cross bands. I have toyed with some ideas, but will try that one eventually!
Seems a practical method.

A thicker grip is indeed a lot better for handeling. Thin grips are extremely annoying.

It's that sword:

There are too a lot of variation in Pompeii blades. Some of them are very short.
Ahh ok! That was the one with the re-inforced tip?
