Surf Music
#1
Hello,

I'm trying to put together a compilation of surf music from around the world. I figured this would be a good place to ask as we have so many different countries represented. I'm sure Australia has some stuff, as does parts of Asia. I'm sure South America does as well, I'm not so sure about Europe, but you never know.

Any help would be appreciated. So far I've ponly got a couple:

USA:
Beach Boys - Surfin' Safari
Dick Dale - Misirlou

Italy:
La Grande Onda - Piotta (Not sure about this one, maybe untill something better comes along)

Catalonia, Spain:
Miami Beach - Lax´n´Busto

Anything to add to the list would be appreciated, Also changes are fine too, there are so many by Dick Dale and the Beach Boys it's hard to tell.

Yes, "Piotta" is the right name, but he does NOT surf! And that recent song of him just rides the present surfwear fashion among the youngsters (surfers and not) in Italy. As one (ahem... Big Grin ) of the first "real" surfing guys in Italy since 1983, when we were just six or seven to surf roman spots like "Banzai" and "Coccia di Morto" (now any decent spot overhere is madly crowded with strong "localism"), I'm sticky more to the old songs like "Wipe out" performed by "the Surfaris", the BBs, of course, or the fantastic Basil Pouledoris' "Big Wednsday" (John Milius) theme...

Incidentally some pics of italian waves (it's not Ocean, of course, it's the "Mare Nostrum")

Stay tubed!

@FAVENTIANVS:
I can't find that song on Limewire...would you be against e-mailing it to me?

@TITUS:
Are there any good songs about surfing by an Italian band? The only reason I have Piotta up there is because it's the only Italian surf song I know of. :oops: I have to confess I listen to Piotta and Articolo 31 :oops:

Also, how cold is the water over there? I used to surf in Santa Cruz, but damn, it's cold! (even with a full wetsuit)

@Peroni:
Is there a specific song from silver Sun you recommend?

Italian surfbands? Sure... 8) Here we go...

-their songs (mp3) [url:1hc83w8m]http://www.surferjoe.it/default.php?page=download[/url]

Never surfed California (northern, southern..., there is difference of course) in Summer in Italy the water is warm about like Polinesia or Seychelles or Brazil (you could need of wetsuit just at early dawn, if windy), in Autumn and Spring (Spring is a little bit chillyer than Autumn, obviously) is about like Atlantic ocean along the Cote Basque in France and Spain in Summer, (4 mm wetsuit is needed). During the winter the water could be very cold overhere (4mm and more full wetsuit with hood and gloves). Once I surfed with the snow on the beach, at the Banzai spot in Roma... Tongue

Thanks for the links, TITUS. Is there a particular song you recomend? I would prefer it if there was lyrics in Italian.

Unfortunately they are instrumenal only, and almost all styled a la Dick Dale.

By the Bradipos IV I like these never released live full songs:

I don't know if it helps,since most I know are all American,but how about
Jan&Dean,the Hondells,the Surfaris and the Trashmen. Some pretty good surfing music and car tunes(which seem inseparable).

That is definitely a decent "hang ten".Nice pic,thanks.
When I was in Germany in the 80's there was a group on tv
named "the Strand Junge". I found this very amusing. Anyone who understands German will get a laugh out of this.I guess they could be called German surf music Confusedhock:
