Hello,
I was thinking that a fitness section of the forum might be a good idea. reenacting a soldier when you aren't fit is never convincing, and I think it could really help to keep people motivated to excersising and staying fit. Also, if people don't know where to start, they could get help, (maybe we could even have a contest?) I'm sure their a knowledgable people on here who know what kind of excercises to do to help a certain thing. I'm in much better shape then I was 6 months ago, so I could help out a little as well.
What does everyone else think?

I think it's a good idea, laudes to you. I've decided to get properly fit this year, including going on a Paleolithic diet that has worked wonders for a friend of mine.
Some links to the diet:

I might sneak a curry in once a month though  Beer's also off the cards, but wine is okay.
I will have some form of dairy intake, though, as calcium is needed and I doubt I'll be gnawing on bones.

Attention! Diet in fitness has never to be punitive: it has to be normal and various, just limit the quantity. If you cut suddenly and drastically the calories introduced daily, you'll get the infamous "yo-yo" effect that will drive you just to obesity.
Be "normal" to eat, walk a lot (minimum 30 minuts per session) adding a 30 minuts loads training and above all, don't stress yourself too much (too many exercises, too long sessions) to avoid your muscles be "eaten" by the cortisol.
Don't train at home alone, but go to a nice gym (with women too, not to boring, even if you are married you can just chat a little  ), ask to the specialized staff how ANY exercise is to be CORRECTLY done to avoid problems, sleep well and at least eight hours, go to sleep before eleven p.m., be serious, COSTANT and serene!
Hoping this help the rookies...
P.S. Moreover, don't frequent the body-building forums, don't take ANYTHING of that pills (of ANY kind), powders and various crap! Just eat well, drink water enough, and take (few) vitamins.
And please, don't read MEN'S HEALTH

Thanks for the reminder Daniele.
I'm not personally worried about the diet I posted and certainly don't see it as punitive. The diet is supposed to be very varied, recreating the richly varied and pre-agricultural diet of Stone Age man.
But you are right, and the diet should be introduced gradually, and not overnight.

Strange coincidence, I was just watching a TV programme called "Ray Mears Wild Food" in which Ray Mears looks at the life and diet of ancient hunter-gatherers. last night he was with the aborigines, it's an excellent programme it's on BBC2 at 8:00PM on Thursdays.

Grubs and grasshoppers are okay, but sometimes they grab at your tongue as you swallow them unless you kill them first.

I think I'll try the paleolithic diet. Might be just what the doctor ordered.
