Plenty of evidence for gilding late roman helmets. Not so sure about 1st-2nd century though.

There are a few La-Tene helmets known which were gilded, inlaid with glass paste and coral.
At least 1 from Amfreville, France and 1 from Reinheim Germany. None that i know of from between 50bc-200ad
