I have just completed some calcei made on a last (two actually, one for each foot). Here's a link waxtablet.blogspot.com/ . There are pics of the shoes, the lasts, and the pattern. I'll do a tutorial for florentius.com on the next pair. It really makes me wonder if the romans used form lasts for any shoes or not. Clearly they had an iron last for pounding hobnails. I have learned that it's quite easy to include the laces in one piece with the shoe, and that cutting them on a curve wrapping around under causes no problems at all. The leather is very forgiving.<br>
