In case you don't know, Alan Whitworth is a New Zealander who spent 15 years of his life drawing every stone of Hadrian's Wall for English Heritage. There is a rather good interview with him on this New Zealand radio station (and if I can listen to it, you ought to be able to). He published accounts of the work in progress in 1994 and 1997* and subsequently went on to produce a BAR** on the re-use of stone from the Wall.
