Vexillum
#1
Hi folks!
I am working on my vexillum for Legio X GPF. I still don't have metal parts for it so I make this makeshift because I am going to event next week.

What do you think?

You are painting the bull with shading? It should look very nice when finished!

I recently painted a capricorn standard which you may have already seen..(?)

That looks great Martian. Very nice work! We at the IXth are working on making some new Vexillums also. They promise to be very nice too!

I am thinking about shading. Can you tell me what kind of paints you have used?

Very well done, Laudes awarded!

Might I ask… and not to be hyper-recreator-critical… just curious, are the tassels made from modern synthetic materials or did you twist those up yourself?

For my Tribune impression I’m torn between using per-made synthetic tassels or trying to twist them up myself.

Plain old water-based acrylics. (Games Workshop 'Citadel' paints)

For the moment synthetic tassels but I intend to replace them with cotton ones in the future.

Gentlemen,

I found a source for the gold bullion fringe material for projects such as this. The sellers name is NJ Sekela and he is in NJ. He is known for his fantasitc and very authentic US Civil War reproductions (some of the best on the market..I own several of his works)...

Hope this helps!

A bit late joining the party but I thought you might like to see our vexillum.

I hope that worked :?

Based on the only discovered example. Linking the goddess Victory to our legions title.

I used linnen and painted with oils paint. It doesn;t sit on the surface in the same way that acrylics do, but it does take about a week to dry properly.
