Looks like a very nice, but narrow belt! :?
Great impression!

Nah, his sleeves are too wide, and his collar isn't right. Nevertheless, I wish I had access to someone who could make such tunics..

I suspect it's traditional dress of a man from Khevsureti (there's a clue in the jpeg's name). You lot have got Romans on the brain a bit too much

Quality work!
I have a boar hunting dagger from Georgia which has the most amazing embossing work! Who says the ancient crafts have dissappeared. I think the shoes in the second pic are a little off, Jim, but there I go again, being judgmental. Very beautiful tunic!

The neckline remembers me to the Bermuthsfeld tunica dated to seven/eight century AD.
The belt could be an eastern one. Overall it is more early medieval ore traditional Russian suit.

No, not the powdered wigs and fake beauty spot type of Georgian.

it's "post-alan" clothing ....but 15th cen in Georgia isn't pure "post-alan" age ....and this tunik isn't clear by typology
however ,Georgia is really beautyfull land with very old history ...much older than russian history

Quote:however ,Georgia is really beautyfull land with very old history ...much older than russian history I believe you overlook the fact that Russia includes many nationalities with a quite ancient known history - the descendants of the Scythians and Sarmatians, to name a couple.

I think there are enough stylistic elements in common with either the Late Roman or Migration era. A re-enactor could do well using this example as the basis for an impression.
