Well, I think the most improtant is not to fall off the horse when using that helmet
Hihi. We'll see how this one will behave under different conditions, although I think I'll get a coolus as a reserve for bad weather.

Nicely done Jurjens! With your rapid rate of progress you'll soon be setting the "high-end" standard for most. If not for horsemanship then certainly in kit. Keep up the momentum.
Speaking as a novice; Is that not considered the parade or sport helm? I'd be quite hesitant to engage in life threatening cavalry melee dependent upon the narrow field of vision from those view ports. Speaking of needing a "Zen like" feel of your immediate surroundings and no peripheral vision! Imagine riding through a wood or heavy undergrowth with that on. I'm sure all riders have experienced passing by a tree just a bit too close.
It's indeed what Robinson classified as a cavalry sports helmet. However, Junkelmann recently pointed out (amongst) others that these helmets were most probably also used in combat, and that's also the view I share.
As for the 'vision' statement, from my own experience of fighting as a secutor, with also only two small eyeholes, I can perfectly live with that. You just have to get used to it and think a little more in advance, but it's all very possible to do. I've been using this helmet on horseback one time, and need a lot of hours riding before I feel safe to use this helmet at speed, I imagine, but it's certainly duable.

You soon get used to face helmets. Visibility varies between each design, but it is the moisture that builds up inside the helmet which can be unpleasant.

You are looking very good, and the location looks lovely. We don't really see anything from the Punic War period in the UK. It is good to see it. I want to try it!
We have some photos of our last show at Wallington up on the website.
