And for old times' sake: here is the link to the original find-the-spam page, the first time that "spam" was used for something that was internet-related and utterly useless. I was quite surprised (and happy) that this monument is still online.

Well, looks like someone just registered - "johnphone", who then put up on the Marketplace forum a bunch of what appears to be cellphone etc, stuff for sale. Looks like SPAM to me.
Definitely not related to the Roman, Greek or other ancient-related marketplace items. I wouldn't even consider it an "off topic" marketplace item. Looks too much like what I get on the work computer that I then have to spend some time deleting! Quinton/Marcus Quintius Clavus, Optio Secundae Pili Prioris Legionis III Cyrenaicae

Thanks for having eagle-eyes, folks... but I'm pretty sure we moderators have such itchy trigger fingers that we hardly need the reminders.

Looks like the spammers are getting trickier, and instead of the drug pushers Rat now has the pornsters masquerading as offended victims or naturists.

It\'s all an accident, an accident of hands. Mine, others, all without mind, from one extreme to another, but neither works nor will ever.

Hi Ioannis,
Possibly, but please keep this thread limited to actual cases of spam. Many bots try to sign up, but usually do not activate their accounts. In such cases, they are deleted within a week. Actual cases of spam need immediate action. |
