I don't know if this one still belongs in this thread, or rather in the art area. But here's the result of a small photoshoot we did a view weeks ago of the story about Marcus Papirius and the Gaul who touched his beard. Told by Livy (59BC-17AD) in his History of Rome..

Beautiful picture Folkert, and very well-placed in this section (although it could easily go into the artwork one as well). Just one thing - would the Celtic warriors be allowed to keep their weapons in Rome?

Well, they where plundering the place at that point and wend about killing everything that moved. So yes I think they did keep their weapons at that event :wink:

Nothing new here, so i want you to show mit newest kit. Latène A after severak finds from sout-west germany about 400 b.C.

That's a cool kit! I'd like to do a Celtic impression one day, the only problem is that there isn't much out there you could buy that resembles the equipment of a first century AD Briton. I'd probably need to make the garments myself, and my sewing isn't up to scratch. Also, most people only sell La Tene swords from around 200 BC, so finding a sword or shield might be difficult.

You could always cut down an old sword blade and make a custom La Tene sword. I do it all the time. You just need to find an old double edged blade or sword for sale on Ebay, and then use an angle grinder or bench grinder to grind the tang down to what you need, and then just carve a wooden handle for it. For a scabbard, you can easily make one out of thin sheet metal, or even cut a larger copper pipe in half, and then make it form there. If you want more tips, and some diagrams of La Tene sword assembly, just send me a PM.

Nice impression, Patrick - i have presented my items here in the forum months ago, as well, but i am not showing them all here all the time.
About the clothes and swords:
we all were beginners and you should to try to sewing the items, working it regulary you will doing the footsteps-progress. The swords: we have the replicas usually and in this way it goes not to buy an existing "blade-form" because you should to adopte and remake it on the clearly correctly mass-form of the originalls.
