There is some really excellent stuff in this thread. There are definitely some really talented people here on the forums.
I worked on a 3D model last semester of the House of the Faun for a graduate seminar on Pompeii. This is my first big standalone project that I've started from scratch that I have released for public consumption. I should note that I did it in two months and it is not complete yet. I have to do some more detailed modeling, especially with the fauces and other ornamental features of the house (including making the column capitals more realistic). I also have to replicate most of the remaining wall-paintings. Nonetheless, I wrote a blog article about it.
