various Hoplites

[Roma Invictus]

I've noticed that there were many different variations of Hoplites in history, through studies, which was sparked by a neat little mod for one of my favorite games called Rome: Total War. in the mod no Hellenistic faction had Hoplites that looked exactly the same, so I looked into the historical background and found that there were variation such as different shield patterns and differing helmet ornaments. my question is if anyone knows about the different variations in detail.
