What is the evidence on the rudis being made of a single piece of wood? I would like to make a few from ash in one piece, but was wondering whether or not the ones found were of a singular baulk of timber or fitted together, using a tang glued into the handle.

I know about two complete finds (one from Haltern and one from England) that both were made out of one piece. At the English site several broken handle pieces with flat disc shaped pommels were found. You can see the picture in the Arma number I posted a link to in one of my first posts. If you read the description in it you'll see it's made out of one piece of wood.
